Every spring, Augusta takes center stage.

The fairways are full, the city is buzzing and visitors from around the world settle in for one of the most iconic weeks of the year. For many, it is a time to step away, soak it in and enjoy a well-earned break.

Here at the Georgia Cyber Center, things look a little different.

While the spotlight is on the course, our focus stays exactly where it always is. On protecting communities, strengthening the workforce and building a more secure future for Georgia and beyond.

Because cyber threats do not take a spring break.

Staying mission-focused when it matters most Georgia Cyber Center's Executive Director, Eric Toler, hard at work

Even during one of the busiest weeks in Augusta, our team is hard at work supporting the organizations that rely on us every day. That includes rural hospitals, local governments, school districts and small to mid-sized manufacturers who face growing cybersecurity risks with limited resources.

Through programs like our Cyber Range and applied training initiatives, we continue helping partners prepare for and respond to real-world threats. Our work may not always be visible, but it is constant and it is critical.

Building the next generation of cyber talent

While many students are enjoying a well-deserved spring break, we are already thinking ahead to what comes next.

Our team is actively developing new training opportunities, refining curriculum and strengthening partnerships with Augusta University to better serve students when they return. Every adjustment we make is designed to help close the cybersecurity workforce gap and ensure our students are ready to step into high-demand roles.

From expanding hands-on learning to creating clearer career pathways, the work behind the scenes never stops.

The work behind the work

Not all of our impact happens in classrooms or training labs.

Behind the scenes, our communications and marketing teams are deep in planning and execution. That means developing new content, pitching stories that highlight student and partner success, analyzing performance data and making sure the right audiences hear about the work happening here.

It is thoughtful, strategic work that helps connect people to opportunity and brings visibility to the growing cybersecurity ecosystem in Augusta.

Looking ahead to a big summer

Right now, we are especially focused on what is coming next.

Our team is preparing to sponsor and attend the NICE Conference, one of the leading national events focused on cybersecurity workforce development.

We are also planning our first-ever professional development experience for CTAE teachers this summer. This initiative will equip educators with the tools, resources and confidence to bring cybersecurity concepts into their classrooms and inspire the next generation of talent even earlier.

These efforts are part of a bigger picture. One where Georgia continues to lead in cybersecurity education, workforce development and innovation.

A moment to enjoy, without losing momentum

Of course, we are still part of this community too.

Some of our team members will step out to enjoy the excitement, attend events or spend time with friends and family visiting for the week. That balance matters.

But as a team, we remain grounded in our mission.

Because while the world is watching Augusta, we are focused on protecting it.

And when the crowds clear and the week winds down, the work continues just as it always has.
