Expanding cybersecurity education in Georgia starts with meeting students where they are.
That is what brought the Georgia Cyber Center team to Atlanta, where we spent time with students at Woodland Middle School introducing them to cybersecurity careers and our own Director of Outreach and Engagement‘s career path (marketing for cyber) through real-world examples. For many students, it was their first look into cybersecurity careers and the role they could play in this growing field.
Moments like this are a key part of building a strong cybersecurity workforce in Georgia. Not every student is aware of the opportunities available in cybersecurity or how to get started. By reaching students early, we can help them explore career pathways, build confidence and see a future for themselves in technology.
While the Georgia Cyber Center is based in Augusta, our work in cybersecurity workforce development extends across the entire state. Visiting schools like Woodland Middle School allows us to connect with students in different communities and expand access to cybersecurity education in Georgia.
That early exposure is just one step in a larger pathway. From K-12 engagement to higher education programs at Augusta University and hands-on experience through the Cyber Resiliency Center, the focus is on creating clear, accessible pathways into cybersecurity careers in Georgia.

During our visit to Atlanta, we also had the opportunity to sit down with FOX 5 to talk about this work and the importance of building a cybersecurity talent pipeline. The interview highlighted how collaboration between education, industry and government is helping strengthen cybersecurity across Georgia while preparing the next generation of professionals.
While the interview was an exciting moment, the real impact happens in classrooms like Woodland Middle School. That is where curiosity starts and where the future of cybersecurity in Georgia begins.
