On Saturday, March 7th, the Georgia Cyber Innovation & Training Center (GCITC) will host Cyber Saturday, a dynamic, interactive cybersecurity event for students in grades 5 – 10 in partnership with the National Cryptologic Foundation (NCF). Jump to registration link.

Designed to introduce young learners to real-world cyber skills in a fun and engaging way, Cyber Saturday offers a full day of hands-on activities that spark curiosity, build digital safety awareness and expose students to potential cybersecurity career paths.

With space limited to 100 students, this unique experience gives participants the opportunity to explore cybersecurity in one of the nation’s premier cyber training facilities.

What Students Will Experience at Cyber Saturday

Throughout the day, students will rotate through immersive cybersecurity challenges and learning sessions, including:

  • A live Escape Room experience hosted by the Georgia Cyber Center, where teamwork and problem-solving skills are put to the test
  • A Capture the Flag (CTF) competition run as a dedicated whole-group session
  • Two interactive cybersecurity learning sessions facilitated by the National Cryptologic Foundation, including one in partnership with resident partner, Booz Allen

These activities mirror real-world cybersecurity scenarios and encourage students to think critically while having fun.

A National Program Expanding to Georgia

Cyber Saturday is an annual initiative of the NCF Education Program in partnership with the Technology Advancement Center (TAC). The program is designed to inspire youth to develop essential cybersecurity knowledge through hands-on learning.

Students (along with parents and guardians) engage in interactive stations such as:

  • Escape room–style cyber challenges
  • Cyber trivia and problem-solving activities
  • The NCF CyberSmart Challenge
  • Lessons on online safety, ethical hacking, password protection, and digital responsibility

Each participant also receives a Cyber Safety Booklet to reinforce key lessons at home or in the classroom.

First launched in June 2023 at the DreamPort Facility in Columbia, Maryland, Cyber Saturday received an overwhelmingly positive response. Due to strong demand, the program is expanding nationwide in 2025, with the Georgia Cyber Innovation & Training Center proud to serve as a host location.

An Opportunity for Students Across Georgia

Students learning robotics at NCF's Cyber Saturday

Cyber Saturday is a great opportunity for students who may not be able to attend GCITC’s Cyber Georgia STEMfest to still experience hands-on cybersecurity learning in a professional cyber environment.

By hosting this event, GCITC continues its mission of building strong cybersecurity education pathways and exposing Georgia’s students to in-demand skills early.
