Students and community members got an up-close look at artificial intelligence, robotics and advanced manufacturing technology when the RICE Georgia AIM Mobile Studio visited the Georgia Cyber Center at Augusta University last Thursday.
The 53-foot mobile studio brought an interactive technology experience to Augusta, giving visitors the opportunity to explore tools and equipment that are shaping today’s workforce. From robotic arms and drones to 3D printers, laser cutters and a robotic dog, there was plenty to see and explore.
Bringing Emerging Technology to the Community
The mobile studio is designed to make advanced technology more accessible, connecting people with hands-on experiences that might otherwise be difficult to find in their own communities.
For students, that kind of exposure can spark an early interest in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) and introduce them to potential career paths in fields such as artificial intelligence, advanced manufacturing and cybersecurity.
Giving students opportunities to interact with technology firsthand is one way to help build awareness of the skills and careers shaping Georgia’s future workforce. Access matters for the broader community, too, especially as emerging technologies continue to influence how businesses operate and how people work.
Connecting Georgia’s Technology and Workforce Ecosystem
The studio tour reflects a shared interest in expanding access to technology education and workforce development across Georgia. As the home of cybersecurity education, training and collaboration among academia, government and industry, the Georgia Cyber Center provides a natural setting for conversations about emerging technology and the opportunities it creates.
Experiences like the RICE Georgia AIM Mobile Studio visit help bring those conversations beyond the classroom and into the community, giving students and visitors a chance to see these technologies in action.
The visit also drew local media attention, with coverage from The Augusta Press, WRDW News 12 and WFXG Fox 54 highlighting the mobile studio’s stop in Augusta.
