This month, our team welcomed nearly 100 middle school students for our third annual Cyber Georgia STEMFest, an interactive event designed to spark curiosity and introduce students to careers in science, technology, engineering and math.

Held at the Georgia Cyber Center, the event brought together about 150 participants, including students, educators, volunteers and industry partners, for a full day of hands-on learning. From escape rooms and Makerspace builds to cybersecurity challenges, students explored a wide range of STEM activities in a high-energy setting that encouraged them to jump in and try something new.

Interest in STEMFest continues to grow each year, with registration reaching capacity within hours of opening. The event is part of the Georgia Cyber Center’s broader mission to build early interest in technology and innovation while strengthening Georgia’s future workforce. By connecting students with professionals and real-world applications, STEMFest helps make careers in STEM and cybersecurity feel both realistic and within reach.

Throughout the day, students rotated through interactive stations led by industry partners and volunteers, many of whom work in cybersecurity and emerging technology fields. These sessions focused on collaboration, problem solving and critical thinking while keeping the experience fun and engaging! We absolutely loved watching the students’ faces light up when things just clicked!

Educators and organizers continue to stress the importance of reaching students early, especially at the middle school level when interests are still taking shape. STEMFest is designed to show that STEM is not only relevant to everyday life, but also full of diverse and exciting career paths.

Now in its third year, STEMFest continues to draw strong interest and community support, reinforcing the Georgia Cyber Center at Augusta University’s commitment to expanding access to STEM education and building the next generation of innovators.
