The NICE Conference 2026 in Philadelphia, hosted by Florida International University, brought together leaders from across the country focused on strengthening the cybersecurity workforce. For the Georgia Cyber Center at Augusta University, the conference provided an opportunity to share our mission, learn from peers and connect with organizations working to advance cybersecurity education and workforce development.

They create opportunities to exchange ideas, build partnerships and bring new insights back to Georgia.

What Is the NICE Conference?

The National Initiative for Cybersecurity Education (NICE) Conference is an annual event focused on cybersecurity workforce development, education and training across the United States.

Held in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, a city known for its rich history and culture of innovation, the 2026 conference brought together representatives from government, education, industry and workforce development organizations. The event serves as a national forum for discussing challenges, sharing best practices and exploring new approaches to preparing the next generation of cybersecurity professionals.

Bringing New Ideas Back to Georgia

One of the greatest benefits of attending NICE is the opportunity to learn from educators, workforce leaders and cybersecurity practitioners from across the country. Sessions explored emerging topics ranging from artificial intelligence and prompt engineering to new approaches for hands-on cybersecurity training.

“I learned about a way to implement hands-on training for prompt engineering. It’s open source, and we plan to integrate it into the range CTFs,” said Allison Lewis.

Ideas like these help ensure the Georgia Cyber Center continues to offer relevant, practical training experiences that reflect the rapidly changing cybersecurity landscape. As technology evolves, staying connected to new tools, techniques and educational approaches is critical to preparing students and professionals for success.

Collaboration That Extends Beyond the Conference

While the sessions offered valuable insights, some of the most meaningful conversations happened between presentations. NICE brings together professionals from government, education and industry who are all working toward a common goal: strengthening the cybersecurity workforce.

Those discussions create opportunities to share best practices, explore future partnerships and learn how organizations across the country are addressing similar challenges. For the Georgia Cyber Center, those connections help broaden perspectives and spark new ideas that can benefit students, educators and industry partners throughout Georgia.

Cybersecurity continues to evolve at a rapid pace, and the workforce must evolve with it. Throughout the conference, speakers emphasized the importance of adaptable training programs, hands-on learning environments and pathways that help individuals enter and advance within the cyber field.

These themes closely align with the work happening every day at the Georgia Cyber Center. Through workforce development initiatives, training programs and Cyber Range experiences, the Georgia Cyber Center remains focused on preparing learners to meet current and future cybersecurity challenges.

By staying engaged in national conversations and learning from leaders across the cybersecurity ecosystem, the Georgia Cyber Center can continue strengthening programs that support students, professionals and organizations across the state.

Looking Ahead

The NICE Conference 2026 was more than an opportunity to showcase the work happening at the Georgia Cyber Center. It was a chance to learn, collaborate and bring new ideas home.

As cybersecurity continues to grow as a critical industry, the Georgia Cyber Center remains committed to advancing cybersecurity education, supporting workforce development and fostering innovation. The insights and connections gained through NICE will help inform future programs and initiatives as we continue working to strengthen Georgia’s cyber workforce and contribute to the broader cybersecurity community.
