For many cybersecurity graduates, the path after college leads directly into a technical role. For Aidan Massenberg, graduation marked the beginning of a different journey.
After earning a Cybersecurity degree in May 2025, Aidan decided to apply the skills he developed in the classroom and workplace in a new way. Today, he is the founder of SetSoar, a technology consulting company that helps businesses identify, implement, and optimize the tools they need to grow and succeed.
Building Skills at the Georgia Cyber Center
As a student, Aidan worked as both an IT Intern and a Georgia AIM Student Assistant. These roles gave him valuable hands-on experience while helping him build the technical and professional skills that complemented his coursework.
One of the biggest advantages, according to Aidan, was the unique environment created by the Georgia Cyber Center at Augusta University.
“The classes in the Cyber Center were great. It was easy to go to class and work in the same place.”
Having the opportunity to learn and work under one roof helped bridge the gap between academic concepts and real-world application, giving Aidan practical experience that would serve him well after graduation.
Finding the Right Fit
Beyond the technical experience, Aidan credits the Georgia Cyber Center team with helping him continue to grow throughout his college career.
“My experience working in the Cyber Center was pretty great. As I advanced in what I was learning, the team, like Wennie, would keep making sure that I was in a role that I would do well in and enjoy.”
Rather than remaining in a single position, Aidan was given opportunities that evolved alongside his skills and interests. That support helped him build confidence, gain experience, and prepare for the next stage of his career.
Launching SetSoar
Today, Aidan is focused on growing SetSoar, a company dedicated to helping organizations select and implement technology solutions that support their goals.
While entrepreneurship has been exciting and rewarding, it has also presented challenges that extend far beyond a technical background.
“Considering the fact that my whole background is technical, I don’t think anything could have prepared me for what I have to do to get my business started.”
From marketing and operations to business strategy and client relationships, starting a company has required Aidan to develop new skills that were not covered in a traditional cybersecurity curriculum. Those challenges, however, have become part of what makes the experience meaningful.
“I am extremely happy with how things are going now.”
The Journey Is Just Beginning
As Aidan continues to build SetSoar, his vision extends beyond business growth. He hopes to use what he is learning today to help others facing the same uncertainties and challenges he once encountered.
“In five years, I see myself helping people who were in the same position that I was in, having the same problems I am having now, figuring out how to turn my skills into income without depending on a traditional job.”
Aidan’s story highlights the variety of a cybersecurity degree, and the career paths it can create. While many graduates pursue traditional cybersecurity roles, Aidan chose entrepreneurship, turning his technical expertise into a business focused on helping others succeed through technology.
